The Governor of the Central Bank welcomed H.E. Mrs Sandrine Lelong-Motta, Ambassador of France to Malta, on a courtesy visit at the Bank’s premises. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms May Gicquel, Minister-Counsellor for Economic Affairs and Head of the Regional Economic Section for Italy and Malta, and Ms Aude Viala, Economic Attaché.

According to the Bank’s latest forecasts, Malta’s real GDP growth is projected at 3.7%, 3.6% and 3.8% over the period 2026-2028. Compared to the Bank’s previous projections, the outlook for GDP growth has been revised down by 0.1 p.p. in 2027 and upwards by 0.1 p.p. in 2028.

The Central Bank of Malta has today published an updated version of Directive No. 6 on New Generation Trans-European Automated Real-Time Gross Settlement Express Transfer System (TARGET), implementing a number of amendments introduced by Guideline ECB/2026/11, which the Governing Council of the European Central Bank adopted on 4 May 2026.

The Central Bank of Malta (the ‘Bank’), in collaboration with the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and the University of Malta, organised two specialised short courses as part of the 5th ISI Regional Statistics Conference (RSC) and also contributed to the main Conference through a series of presentations.
