The Central Bank of Malta has released its Annual Report for 2021, including its detailed financial statements, an opening statement by the Governor, an analysis of economic and financial developments in Malta and abroad, and a review of the Bank’s policies and operations.

The Bank’s Business Conditions Index for February indicates that annual growth in business activity remains above its long-term average, though it has receded from the high levels registered in the first half of 2021.

The Central Bank of Malta (Bank) organized a webinar entitled “20 Years of Euro Banknotes and Coins” on 17 March 2022. This webinar was organized as part of the Bank’s celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Euro banknotes and coins.

The Prime Minister has appointed Dr Lauren Ellul B.Accty. (Hons), M.B.A. (Exec.) (Edin. & E.N.P.C.), F.I.A., C.P.A., Ph.D. (Birm.) to serve as Director of the Bank in terms of the Central Bank of Malta Act (Cap. 204) for a period of five years with effect from 2 February 2022.

The Central Bank of Malta (Bank) launched the update of its Corporate Strategic Plan during a virtual event for all staff members on 14 March 2022. During this event staff members were addressed by the Governor Edward Scicluna, Deputy Governors Alexander Demarco and Oliver Bonello, and the Chief Operating Officer Daniele Romano.
