Central Bank of Malta went pink

The Central Bank of Malta, through its Cultural Activities Committee, joined other organisations and individuals to raise funds and awareness for Pink October and Movember.

Staff members were encouraged to wear a 'touch of pink'. They were also greeted by pink and blue muffins on their arrival on the Bank's premises, as encouragement to raise awareness and funds for the Marigold Foundation.

Central Bank of Malta management and staff raised €1,500 for this initiative, one of many undertaken by the Bank as part of its wide-ranging Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

The funds were presented by the Bank's Deputy Governor Mr Oliver Bonello to Ms Alexia Gatt Spearing at the Marigold Foundation premises in Marsa.

While thanking the Bank's management and staff for their donations, Ms Gatt Spearing explained that the Marigold Foundation organises awareness campaigns and fundraising efforts. The Pink October and Movember events are intended to make people aware on the importance of checking oneself for breast cancer and testicular cancer - no matter one's age.
