Central Bank of Malta Governor participates in the ECOFIN meetings and EUROFI Financial Forum in Prague

The Central Bank of Malta Governor, Professor Edward Scicluna, participated in the ECOFIN and EUROFI meetings in Prague, Czech Republic on 9 September 2022.

The ECOFIN meeting attended jointly by the EU Central Bank Governors and EU Finance Ministers discussed the handling of the economic and financial consequences for Europe arising from Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

Earlier that day Governor Scicluna participated in a EUROFI panel discussion entitled 'Monetary Policy and Stagflation: Challenges and Way Forward in Europe.' The panel was chaired by B. Vujčić (National Bank of Croatia) with renowned speakers R. Holzmann (Central Bank of Austria), Y. Stournaras (Central Bank of Greece), M. Kazāks (Central Bank of Latvia) and M. Centeno (Central Bank of Portugal) participating in the panel. Two industry speakers P. Heim (Banque Postale) and C. Staub (Fidelity) also participated in the panel discussion together with J. de Larosière as the panel expert.

EUROFI was established in the year 2000 with the aim of contributing to the strengthening and integration of European financial markets. It serves as a platform for exchanges between the financial services industry and public authorities, with discussions addressing latest developments in financial policy and the macroeconomic and industry trends affecting the financial sector.
