Governor Scicluna sat down for an interview with David Barwick from Econostream Media, a financial media source that specialises in Monetary Policy. The interview was the first one given to a foreign media source and provided the Governor with the opportunity to express his views on the economic situation and the upcoming decisions of the ECB.

In August, the Bank’s Business Conditions Index remained positive, as most macroeconomic variables continued to recover from the very low levels observed in 2020. Nevertheless, the level of aggregate economic activity remained below pre-pandemic levels.

This afternoon, the Parliament welcomed a speech by a number of academics and the Speaker of the House, Hon. Anġlu Farrugia, about the role that the Parliament has played and can play in order for our communities to be the place in which they must be nurtured. This event was organized by the Office of the Speaker in the wake of the celebrations of the Maltese Parliament which commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Maltese Parliament as we know it today.

A study into increasing health care costs found that the survival probability for patients increased by 2.5 percentage points for those being studied, with a better survival rate for some diseases such as heart attacks and strokes, and even higher one for others such as cancer.
