    Central Bank of Malta updates Directive No. 6

    The Central Bank of Malta has today published a revised version of its Directive No. 6 on the Harmonised Conditions for Opening and Operating Payments Module Accounts, T2S Dedicated Cash Accounts in TARGET2-Malta (Directive No. 6), implementing the amendments introduced by Guideline ECB/2021/30 which amend Guideline ECB/2012/27 on a Trans-European Automated Real-time Gross Settlement Express Transfer system (TARGET2).

    Governor Scicluna's full interview for Forbes Magazine Special Report on Malta

    Forbes Middle East interviewed Central Bank of Malta's Governor Edward Scicluna to discuss Malta's exceptional economic growth. Professor Scicluna stated that although Malta went through partial lockdowns, "The pandemic found the financial service industry well prepared for any eventuality which stressed the system". He also further emphasised that the Central Bank of Malta has been at the forefront in pushing government loans for businesses. He also discussed green finance initiatives and the benefits Malta could offer to the Middle East.

    Governor Scicluna participates in the Annual IMF and World Bank Meetings

    The Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Professor Edward Scicluna, participated in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), which are taking place in Washington D.C. via a hybrid format between 12 and 17 October 2021. Both fora gather policymakers, leading experts in the field and an array of NGOs to discuss issues of global concern. This year’s meetings largely focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and building a more resilient and sustainable global economy.

    Central Bank Governor addresses the 2021 Commonwealth Meeting

    The Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Professor Edward Scicluna, addressed the Commonwealth Central Bank Governors Meeting held virtually on Monday 11 October 2021. The event, jointly organised with the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting, brings together the top economic decision-makers from the 54 member states that form the organisation.
