At a ceremony held this morning at the Central Bank of Malta, the Governor of the Bank Professor Edward Scicluna presented a silver coin with the theme ‘Karnival ta’ Malta’ to Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici.

The Bank’s Business Conditions Index indicates that in December, annual growth in business activity was slightly above its long-term average.

The Central Bank of Malta, through its Fund, is proudly sponsoring ‘Nucleus’, an exhibition at the Malta Society of Arts, Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta, in view of its high-level contribution towards the Maltese artistic sector, and the participating artists’ common drive towards promoting the watercolour medium amongst young upcoming artists.

The latest business dialogue held between the Central Bank of Malta and non-financial corporations shows that in the fourth quarter of 2023, the net share of firms reporting better business conditions decreased when compared to the previous quarter. It stood at 35%, down from 44% in the third quarter of the year. On balance, conditions were less positive than before across most economic sectors, except in services where conditions improved.
