Central Bank of Malta participates in talk on economic and financial literacy for youths

On 28 July, the Bank's Chief Economist, Dr Aaron G. Grech, participated in a talk on economic and financial literacy for youths.

Finance and economics are central to young people's concerns and opportunities. Whether it is work, accommodation, or simply recreation, the importance of finances in young people's lives cannot be overstated. Economics, on the other hand, carries social and political weight. The economic model chosen, the quality of life, and how money is distributed in society all impact the lives of young people.

These were the main topics discussed in a talk organised by the youth group Żgħażagħ għall-Bidla, an independent, youth-led platform in Malta dedicated to empowering the next generation of citizens.

The talk was also addressed by Mr Frederick Aquilina (accountant and minority leader on the Luqa Local Council). Together, Dr Grech and Mr Aquilina provided important insights tailored to the audience. The event was very engaging, sparking several encounters and discussions.

The meeting was held in collaboration with the Mosta Local Council. The Central Bank of Malta is committing to further economic and financial literacy in Malta.
