The Governor of the Central Bank of Malta participates in the IMF-World Bank constituency meeting in Lisbon, Portugal

Central Bank of Malta Governor, Mr Alexander Demarco and Central Bank of Malta Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy, Ms Rita Schembri, together with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) Governors and senior officials from Albania, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and San Marino, gathered in Lisbon, Portugal on 6 and 7 July for the IMF-WBG constituency meeting.

The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Finance of Portugal and Banco de Portugal.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Minister of Finance of Portugal, Mr Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, and by the Governor of Banco de Portugal, Mr Álvaro Santos Pereira.

Present for the meeting were also the Minister for Finance, Hon. Clyde Caruana, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for the Finance Ministry, Mr Paul Zahra, as well as Executive Directors Mr Riccardo Ercoli and Mr Matteo Bugamelli, who represent the constituency at the IMF and WBG respectively.

The topics discussed included recent developments and future challenges for the IMF and WBG, AI adoption at multilateral institutions and central banks: projects and main challenges and AI challenges in employment.
