Central Bank of Malta Acting Governor participates in 2025 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings

The Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Mr Alexander Demarco, participated in the 2025 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), that took place in Washington, D.C. from 21 to 26 April.

The annual Spring Meetings bring together central bankers, finance ministers, development officials, and private sector executives from around the world to discuss issues of global economic concern.

During his visit, Mr Demarco held a series of high-level engagements with key international financial leaders. He met with members of the IMF Article IV Mission team, led by Mr Kotaro Ishi, and held discussions with IMF Executive Directors Mr Riccardo Ercoli and Mr Alfred Kammer. Additionally, Mr Demarco met with World Bank Executive Director Mr Matteo Bugamelli as well as the World Bank Director for the Maghreb region Mr Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaya.

These meetings provided an important platform to exchange views on Malta's economic performance and outlook, as well as broader regional and global financial developments.
