Signing of the Collective Agreements between the Central Bank of Malta, the Union Ħaddiema Bank Ċentrali (UĦBC), and General Workers’ Union (GWU)
On 29th October 2024, the Central Bank of Malta signed two collective agreements, one with UĦBĊ for staff within the Executive and Clerical Category and another with the Professionals, Finance and Services Section of the GWU representing the Non-Clerical Category. Both agreements cover the period 2024 to 2027.
Negotiations with both unions were conducted in a cordial atmosphere with all parties demonstrating goodwill and cooperation. This resulted in a comprehensive agreement that improves workplace conditions that create a fair and motivating environment for all employees.
The agreements aim to achieve further effectiveness, efficiency and quality to meet the Bank's requirements as a member of the Eurosystem. They represent a firm commitment by the Bank to continue to be an employer of choice and retain the best talent despite challenging tight labour market conditions.
The latest agreements do not only improve workplace conditions but are also aimed at providing opportunities for staff development, with the Bank committing itself to improve opportunities for their career progression.
