Queen Mary University of London and Central Bank of Malta set up Academic Visitors Programme

The Central Bank of Malta has concluded an agreement with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) on an Academic Visitors Programme. The agreement was signed by Dr Mario Vella, Governor, and Professor Colin Bailey, President and Principal of QMUL.

Through this Programme, the Bank is offering the possibility for visiting scholars from the School of Economics and Finance at QMUL to carry out research at the Bank. The Programme also offers the opportunity for doctoral students to carry out an internship with the Bank, to undertake research in areas of interest to the Bank.

This Programme follows a successful joint conference in London last year and a public lecture in Malta by Professor Sujoy Mukerji, Head of the School of Economics and Finance, at the Central Bank of Malta in March this year. More recently, Professor Haroon Mumtaz acted as a discussant during a European System of Central Banks' workshop on public finances hosted by the Bank.

The Programme should result in a mutually beneficial deepening of these links between the Central Bank of Malta and QMUL, one of the UK's leading institutions and a member of the Russell Group.
