Central Bank of Malta Governor Professor Edward Scicluna participates in the International Monetary Fund-World Bank constituency meeting in Tirana, Albania

Malta Governor Professor Edward Scicluna together with IMF and World Bank Governors and senior officials from Albania, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, San Marino and Timor-Leste gathered in Tirana, Albania on Friday 16 February for the International Monetary Fund-World Bank Group (IMF-WBG) constituency meeting.

The meeting was hosted by the Bank of Albania and the Ministry of Finance of Albania.  Present for the meeting were also executive directors Federico Giammusso and Matteo Bugamelli, who represent the constituency at the IMF and WBG respectively.

Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania also addressed the conference.

The topics discussed included recent developments at the IMF and WBG, the economic effects and political economy considerations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and challenges and opportunities related to harnessing Africa's Energy and Mineral Wealth for Development.

For this constituency meeting in Tirana, the Governor Professor Edward Scicluna was accompanied by the Deputy Governor for Monetary Policy, Mr Alexander Demarco.
