The Central Bank of Malta and Banque d’Algérie – the Algerian central bank – have agreed to hold annual high level meetings to take collaborative relations between them to a new level.

The Central Bank of Malta would again like to remind the public that in terms of Article 62(1) of the Central Bank of Malta Act (Cap 204), the Fifth Series banknotes, which ceased to be legal tender after 31 January 2008, after Malta adopted the euro, will not remain exchangeable after 12:30 of Wednesday 31 January 2018.

The Prime Minister has appointed Professor Frank Bezzina B.Ed. (Hons.) (Melit.), Dip. Ed. Mangt. (JEB), M.Sc. (SHU), Ph.D. (Melit.) to serve as Director of the Bank in terms of the Central Bank of Malta Act for a period of five years with effect from 1 January 2018.
