Pedro Pólvora

 

 

Pedro Pólvora is the Deputy Head of the Macroprudential Policy, Stress Testing & Research Department at the Central Bank of Malta. His work centres on macroprudential policy design, stress testing, financial stability analysis, and the development of quantitative tools to assess systemic risk.

Before joining the Central Bank of Malta, he held roles at Saudi Arabia's Central Bank (SAMA), Banco de Portugal, the European Banking Authority, and the European Central Bank, where he contributed to stress testing exercises, risk assessment, macroprudential frameworks, and policy research. He has also represented his institutions in international working groups and policy forums, including the ESRB, EBA, ECB, and IMF.

Pedro holds an MSc in Economics, an MSc in Statistics and Information Management, and a BSc in Economics, and is a Financial Risk Manager (FRM). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics. His technical background includes R, Python, SAS, STATA, and econometric modelling.
