The implementation of the 'Statutory Financial Information to be submitted by the Investment Funds' (CBM-IF) and 'Statutory Reference Data to be submitted by Investment Funds' (CBM-IFR)

Regulation (EU) 2024/1988 of the European Central Bank (ECB) of 27 June 2024 concerning statistics on investment funds (IFs) replacing (EU) 2015/32 (ECB/2014/62) (ECB/2024/17) (recast), establishes the reporting requirements for IFs. These requirements cover statistical information such as that on the IF assets, liabilities, income received, dividends paid, and fees paid by shareholders to the IF. The first reporting under this Regulation will take place with monthly data for December 2025.

This Regulation applies to:

All IFs resident in Malta: The IF itself, or the persons legally representing it (if the IF does not have legal personality under national legislation), must report the required statistical information.
Sub-funds within IFs: If an IF segregates its assets into different sub-funds, each sub-fund is considered an individual IF, with shares/units independently backed by different assets.

This includes all reporting tables and the respective data dictionaries for each table. The sheets in this file are color-coded and hyperlinked for ease of reference. This material should help the reporting agent develop the XML file to be uploaded to the Bank's statistical system.
