Governor Scicluna addresses the ‘Women and Finance’ Conference

Central Bank of Malta Governor, Professor Edward Scicluna, addressed the audience present for the 'Women and Finance' Conference organised by the Malta Bankers' Association (MBA) together with the National Council for Women (NCW), Malta. The conference was hosted by the Central Bank of Malta and took place on 24 March 2023 at Binja Laparelli.

This conference focused on fostering an enhanced appreciation of the benefits of financial literacy among its audience. A number of speakers from the Maltese banking sector participated in the conference. Part of the conference was also dedicated to entrepreneurship and women's experience in business.

The conference was opened by Ms Rita Sammut Buontempo, MBA Assistant Secretary General. Introductory welcome addresses were delivered by Mr Karol Gabarretta, MBA Secretary General and Ms Doreen Borg Zammit, NCW President who gave an introductory welcome speech. Concluding remarks were delivered by Mr Marcel Cassar, Chair MBA.

In his address, Governor Scicluna highlighted that "we are here not to laud the success of unique women. What we are after is a normalisation for the whole population that decisions not only in the family but in all government institutions and private corporations are taken by both genders of human beings. That is all we are after no more no less."
