Government appoints Mario Vella as Brexit Special Commissioner
The Government of Malta has appointed Governor Mario Vella as Special Commissioner for Economic, Financial and Trade Relations with the United Kingdom with effect from 1 January 2021. Finance Minister Edward Scicluna has been appointed to succeed him as of the same date.
The Special Commissioner will be responsible for monitoring and tackling consequences for Malta on the ground following the United Kingdom's departure from the Single Market and the Customs Union on 1 January 2021.
