Central Bank of Malta Governor Presents the 14th Financial Stability Report to the Minister for Finance and Employment
The Central Bank of Malta Governor, Professor Edward Scicluna, officially presented the fourteenth edition of the Financial Stability Report 2021 to the Minister for Finance and Employment, Clyde Caruana on 10 August 2022.
Prof Scicluna remarked that the Financial Stability Report is the Bank’s flagship report on the financial stability of the country. He explained that the report found that the economic recovery supported financial stability conditions – the banking sector’s profitability and capital levels improved, as did asset quality, while the influx of deposits contributed further to the ample liquidity in the system. The Governor noted that although the Report covers developments in 2021, the Bank is actively monitoring the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war, closely.
A seminar on the Financial Stability Report 2021 is planned to take place on 29 September 2022.
The Financial Stability Report can be downloaded from www.centralbankmalta.org or obtained in printed form from the Central Bank of Malta.
