Governor's Corner

Professor Edward Scicluna was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Malta for five years with effect from 1 January 2021.

He is a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, Governor on the Boards of the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Alternate Governor on the Board of the World Bank.  He is also Deputy Chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Until he took over at the Central Bank of Malta, Prof. Scicluna served as Malta’s Minister for Finance and member of the European Council of Finance Ministers (2013 – 2020). Prior to that he served for four years as a Member of the European Parliament and Vice-Chairman of ECON.
