The Central Bank of Malta engages in IMF Technical Assistance Program
Between 14 and 18 October 2024, staff members from the Financial Stability Research Office took part in the onsite leg of an IMF-led technical assistance (TA) program focusing on building a financial network model.
The IMF has commissioned Dr Martin Saldias from the Bank of Portugal as the lead consultant for the project. This collaboration provided the Central Bank with expert guidance and resources to enhance its technical capabilities in macroprudential research.
This network model will allow the Bank to study the direct and second-round effects of a shock to common exposures across banks, providing insights into capital buffer adequacy to better equip the Bank's macroprudential policy process.
