Dr Lillian Sciberras awarded with the 2018 National Book Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Contributions to Literature & the Book

The Central Bank of Malta would like to congratulate Dr Lillian Sciberras on being awarded the 2018 National Book Council's Lifetime Achievement Award for Contributions to Literature and the Book.

Dr Sciberras' unique contribution to Maltese literature in both Maltese and English, in the fields of poetry and the novel, spans over thirty years.

For eight years (1984-1992), she held the post of a Deputy Librarian at the University of Malta Library. Along the years she served on various committees and boards, relating to libraries and librarianship. She was chairperson of the statutory Public Libraries Advisory Committee. Dr Sciberras was a Senior Lecturer in Library Studies and was Head of the Division of Library and Information Studies (now the Department of Library, Information, and Archival Sciences) in the Centre for Communication Technology (now the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences) at the University of Malta for fourteen years (1992 -2006). She remains chair of the LIAS Department Board of Studies.

She is also one of the founding members of the Malta Library & Information Association (MaLIA) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, (United Kingdom). She is at present a council member of the Malta Libraries Council and the National Archives Council, Malta. 

Dr Lillian Sciberras is a member of the Central Bank of Malta's Numismatic and Historical Publications Advisory Board.
