    Research article published in the Journal of Economic Integration

    A paper by Dr Aaron Grech, Chief Economist at the Central Bank of Malta, “Did Malta’s Accession to the EU Raise its Potential Growth? A Focus on the Foreign Workforce”, has been published in the Journal of Economic Integration 2017 December;32(4) :873-890. This paper evaluates the impact on Malta’s potential output growth caused by increased migration.

    Professor John Chircop elected Vice-President of the CMU

    Professor John Chircop, Chairperson of the Mediterranean Institute at the University of Malta, has been recently elected Vice-President of the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU). Professor Chircop is a member of the Central Bank of Malta's Numismatic and Historical Publications Advisory Board.

    Public Consultation

    On 9 June 2017 the Central Bank of Malta launched a Public Consultation on the implementation of the proposed text of the revised Directive relating to the Provision and Use of Payment Services in Malta, which will repeal CBM Directive No. 1 (Ref: CBM 01/2009).
