In 2002, the Central Bank of Malta
issued a gold commemorative coin, with the maritime theme “Xprunara”,
forming part of the Royal Mint Precious Fine Gold Collection.
The coat of arms of Malta and
the year of issue 2002 are shown on the obverse of the coin.
The reverse depicts an eighteenth century sailing ship of the
“Xprunara” type and was designed by Joseph Muscat
MQR. This Gold Proof-Like coin was legal tender in Malta
until 31 January 2008 for
the value of Lm10. It was struck at the Royal Mint, in the
United Kingdom.
