Introduction


The Central Bank of Malta is responsible for compiling and publishing a range of statistics, primarily in the area of Monetary and Financial, Government Finance, External Statistics and Real Economy Indicators. This part of the website contains an overview of the statistics compiled by the Bank, the standards adhered to in their compilation and an advance release calendar of such statistics as shown below. General notes together with a list of Returns, Report Forms and Instructions is also provided. The statistics can also be accessed through the Statistical Tables annex of the Quarterly Review.

This section includes key national data and corresponding euro area indicators. Further euro area statistics can be viewed and downloaded from the statistical pages of the European Central Bank's website.

As from 1 January 2008, the Bank ceased collecting statistical information regarding external transactions as defined under the External Transactions Act (Cap. 233). The relative Circulars have also been revoked and are no longer applicable.
