Auberge d'Italie

The Central Bank of Malta is offering for sale a silver and a gold coin with the theme "Auberge d'Italie" as part of the Europa Programme 2010 - Cultural Heritage. The coins were struck at the Royal Dutch Mint. The obverse of the coins shows the Emblem of Malta with the year of issue 2010. The reverse depicts a detail from the façade of Auberge d’Italie, the marble-clad central element ornamented by a trophy of martial figures supporting the bronze bust of Grand Master Gregorio Carafa (1680-1690) with his coat of arms below it. The Auberge, situated in Merchants Street in Valletta, houses the offices of the Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, the Environment and Culture and the Malta Tourism Authority. The 'Europa Star', which is the official logo of the programme, is also shown on the reverse side of the coins.

The coins are available for sale from the Malta Coin Distribution Centre counter at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta or by completing the order form below.

For more information regarding the issue of these gold and silver coins, please e-mail us at mcdc@centralbankmalta.org or call on +356 2550 6005.
