Mario Micallef – Profile
Mario Micallef was appointed as Director of the Central Bank
of Malta for a period of five years with effect from 23 March
2009. Mr. Micallef is a Certified Public Accountant and Auditor,
fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and Certified in
the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology by the Chicago-based
IT Governance Institute.
Mr. Micallef is an internationally
recognised financial services’ governance, risk management
and compliance specialist in the emerging risk-based, principles-driven
regulatory landscape. Over a 33-year career, Mr. Micallef has
had extensive experience in financial services, including over
20 years with the National Australia Bank Group, an international
financial services organization, where he held a number of senior
executive positions covering Australia, the United States, Europe
and New Zealand. Prior to joining the National Australia Bank
Group Mr. Micallef practiced in the external audit profession
for 10 years.
Mr. Micallef is currently
the Chief Executive Officer of Ganado & Associates, Advocates.
